Civilian and military representatives today signed a treaty on the establishment of FABEC, the Functional Airspace Block Europe Central. Joint management of airspace of the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg and Switzerland is thus one step closer. Shorter routes in 2012 lead to more efficient, punctual and environmentally friendly air transport.
The FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt announced last week that the number of serious runway incursions at the nation’s airports dropped 50 percent from 2009, the second consecutive year that the number of serious incursions was cut in half.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced international scheduled traffic statistics for July which showed continued strengthening of demand for both passenger and cargo traffic. Compared to July 2009, international passenger demand was up 9.2% while international scheduled freight traffic showed a 22.7% improvement.
