MovingDot representatives visited Hanoi, Vietnam in October 2016 as participants in the Dutch Aviation Vietnam initiative. The initiative is part of the Partners for International Business activity organized between the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Vietnamese Government and Dutch aviation companies.
During the visit, the Vietnamese aviation branch presented the current situation in Vietnam and their impressive future plans. Air traffic volumes are growing at a very high rate. The average growth rates for the period 2010-2014 was 12% annually for passengers and 12.6% for cargo. The figures continue in double digits for this and next year. The growth presents the Vietnamese aviation authority and companies with huge challenges.
During round table discussions with representatives of Vietnam ATM (VATM) and the CAA Vietnam, Hans Offerman presented many examples of our hands-on experience on relevant ATM concepts, e.g. air traffic flow management (ATFM), safety management system (SMS) implementation, flexible use of airspace (FUA), transitioning from AIS to AIM, developing operational concepts etc.
Visits to TWR and APP control at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi ACC and VATM’s headquarters showed the need for an increased capacity and flexibility of the ATM system (procedures, systems and proficiency) to manage the ever-increasing volume of flights.
MovingDot is looking forward to assist Vietnam in the development of their aviation system in close cooperation with Vietnamese aviation parties.
