At the request of the Dutch House of Representatives, an advisory committee was established to examine the necessity and the value of the airspace redesign over the Netherlands and the western part of Germany. The committee also looked at the thoroughness of both the redesign of the Core Airspace Structure as well as the Higher Approach projects. The advisory committee, chaired by Jan Jacob van Dijk, presented its report on 18 November 2025 to the Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management and the State Secretary for Defence. In preparing its advice, the committee used the input of various stakeholders, including experts from MovingDot who are closely involved in the Dutch Airspace Redesign Programme.

The report is available for download here.

In June 2025, the core airspace structure design over the Netherlands and the south-western part of Germany was evaluated during one week of real-time simulations. These simulations took place at the Netherlands Aerospace Centre in Amsterdam. The simulations were executed by 30 air traffic controllers and 27 simulation pilots from LVNL, MUAC, DFS, the Royal Netherlands Air and Space Force and the German Air Force. MovingDot experts coordinated the simulations on behalf of DARP. The video below (in Dutch) gives some insight into the simulation objectives and an impression of the set-up.

After two great editions, we’re thrilled to return to Airspace World, now being hosted in Lisbon for the very first time. As one of the key gatherings for the ATM community worldwide, the event is a unique opportunity to connect, collaborate, and exchange ideas on the future of air traffic — from safety and efficiency to innovation and sustainability.

We’re also proud to share that our colleague Marian will be speaking on Fatigue Risk Management implementation — a topic that’s increasingly relevant in today’s operational landscape. Join us for the session on Wednesday, 14 May at 11:00 in the Viasat Theatre.

You’ll find the MovingDot team at stand H1580 from Tuesday 13 May to Thursday 15 May, ready to engage in meaningful conversations and explore new opportunities. Our company representatives will be:

We were recently involved in two initiatives aimed at minimising the airport’s aircraft emissions:

  • An action plan to reduce the APU and engine usage by aircrafts on the ground, carried out in co-operation with the local five home-based carriers. Among the implemented measures, MovingDot’s contribution focused on awareness campaigns for pilots and apron staff, the adjustment of procedures between these parties and the airport, as well as increasing the priority of connecting electric preconditioned air units (PCAs) by the ground handlers. Accelerating the introduction of these measures among airlines and ground handlers was an important part of our work.
  • Setting up a plan of approach for adjusted arrival and departure procedures. These would allow starting up aircraft engines as far away as possible from people working in the apron area, as well as reducing congestion near and at the bays. Our role included supporting the program’s management and facilitating stakeholder engagement.

We are proud to support Schiphol’s efforts to create a healthier working environment for airside employees while also reducing its impact on the climate and the broader environment.

More details about our involvement in this project can be found here.

Training of personnel on fatigue awareness and mitigation, both operational and non-operational staff, is part of effective Fatigue Risk Management (FRM). MovingDot successfully provided FRM workshops and briefings to all DC-ANSP personnel. On-site workshops were conducted to the operational employees working in shifts, including the air traffic controllers from the Area Control Center, Hato and Flamingo Towers and officers from the ATS Reporting Office. In addition, on-site briefings were held for employees working regular office hours from the DC-ANSP supporting business units and the management team.

The sessions were a combination of theory and practical examples, operational experiences and best practices. This way, the fatigue theory and ICAO Doc 9966 were translated to the operational and organisational reality. The workshops and briefings were delivered with active engagement by the participants, in a trusted setting to openly share personal experiences together with the MovingDot trainers with human performance, operational and managerial experience. This greatly contributed to the good result of the sessions.
